And Our Winner Is…
The winner of our nationwide college stock pitch competition is Christopher Lee of Duke University. Christopher pitched Delta Apparel (NYSE: DLA — $97 million) and we encourage everyone to read his write-up below!
Of the 28 student submissions, we had plenty of other great ideas to choose from. Five of our favorites nominated for honorable mentions include:
Nick Brown at Harvard on IAC Inc (NASDAQ: IAC — $4.13 billion) here.
William Houston at American University on Donnelley Financial Solutions (NYSE: DFIN — $1.10 billion) here.
Alexa Watson at Tufts on General Mills (NYSE: GIS — $45.9 billion) here.
Avyuk Dixit at the University of Michigan on Whitehaven Coal (ASX: WHC — AUD$9.9 billion) here.
Timothy Gallagher at Fordham on Planet Labs (NYSE: PL — $1.45 billion) here.
Look for an interview with Christopher on the Yet Another Value Podcast in the near future. In addition, all six winners will get a year free of Tegus, an awesome tool for researching companies that takes investment research to the next level. Special thanks to Andrew and Tegus for their generosity!
Also, this competition couldn’t have happened without the help of four great founding interns: @eliant_capital, @Mr_Schofieldd, @FadeCapital, and @kyle_nisbet1, who reached out to college investment clubs and provided feedback on the pitches.
All student pitches are posted publicly on our website. If you are looking for summer interns or first-year analysts this is the perfect place to find talented students!
We will be doing this again next year, and if you have any feedback on how we can make this even better next time please let me know:)
Congratulations again to Christopher, and runners-up Nick, William, Alexa, Avyuk, and Timothy!
Until next year,
Edwin
